The best video strategy for your brand

Updated: Mar 18, 2022

Video marketing is on the rise. In 2020, 70% of businesses added videos to their social lineup or other marketing tools, and its use is predicted to rise in the coming years. As high-quality technology becomes more accessible and audiences easily find groups with shared interests, video provides familiarity and comfort even when it can be hard to make physical connections.

To craft your first campaign, answer a few questions:

  1. Who is your audience?

  2. What message do you want to share?

  3. How can you best deliver the message?

Once you have defined your audience and a clear message, it’s easier to see which video format will work best. Here are just a few:

Animated Videos

Some topics are complex and creating an animation can bring a visual display to otherwise hard-to-digest topics. An animated video gives you the ability to dive deep into a topic that needs an authority voice to build trust with your target audience. This can also be a great way to add sound or visual aids to help support your topic. Below is an animated video we created to help The Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City explain tax increment financing districts.

How to/DIY videos

Remember the old saying I can show you better than I can tell you? DIY videos teach your audience something new by taking them step by step through the work. This allows you to showcase your expertise while positioning yourself as a teacher in your industry/subject. See how we used a how-to video in one of our most read blogs:

Client testimonials

It’s comforting to hear about someone else’s experience before committing to a product or business. Client testimonial videos allow you to feature a product or service, show how you provided an answer to a client’s problem and showcase how your company can help future clients while building strong customer relationships. Here’s how we showcased a positive client testimony:

Series

Most video types can also fit into a series, several videos that can stand on their own but tell a larger story when put together. This can be a great way to grow your audience, build anticipation and gain viewer loyalty. We created a Youtube series to help the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) with their Watch For Me OK campaign. Click here to watch:

Demo videos

This is your opportunity to showcase how a product works in only 30 to 60 seconds. Bonus: Feature a customer using the product to show how it can be valuable for the viewer. Recent platforms like TikTok and Instagram have created a new way for you to showcase your products and their benefits to clients. Here is an example of an Instagram Reel we created for Country Leisure to help show off their pool products! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CV3b1jAprXr/

Live Stream/Event Videos

Do you have something of value to share, but it is a complex topic, involves multiple participants and takes longer to share? An event video allows you to connect with a bigger audience by bringing them behind the scenes and allowing them to attend virtually. You can also gain diverse feedback in real time by encouraging viewers to comment and ask questions.

Brand Videos

Branding videos allow you to directly connect with viewers by communicating your vision, purpose and products or services. These videos can live on your website, add to an advertising campaign, end a video series and continue to remind audiences who you are and what you’re about.

Teaser/promo

Do you have an exciting new product or feature that you want to share with your audience? A teaser can give a short look into something coming from the company to excite the audience before you release it. This can be a great way to gauge and understand the audience's perception of your brand.
