Q&A with Mikayla Martin:

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

I think in a past life I may have been a food critic. One of my favorite hobbies is trying new restaurants and bakeries. My father and I always try at least three different bakeries when we are out of town and rate them out of five stars. When visiting a new city we look up places featured on a famous cooking show or magazine. If I’m not traveling, I’ll go to my OKC favorites and try new menu items. The best dish I’ve ever tried was penne alla vodka at Carmine’s in NYC. Carmine’s is a family-owned Italian restaurant, so the portions are huge, which is a plus.

What are you reading/listening to/watching right now?

I’m currently watching Chicago Med, which is a Netflix series that follows emergency room stories at the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. I love this show because all the characters are passionate about their career, sometimes to their own detriment. My favorite character is Natalie because she truly cares about her patients while still the following protocol. If you enjoy medical shows with drama or sentimental patient stories, this is a great show for you.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part about working at Anglin PR is the work culture and the opportunity to receive feedback from different people. Anglin handles a diverse group of clients, which makes every day in the office different. The staff is well versed in a variety of topics, which allows me to widen my expertise in multiple areas of public relations. The team is always willing to help and make me feel like a part of the team! I know working with Anglin PR will provide endless opportunities for me to grow as an upcoming professional.

What did you want to be when you were little?

When I was younger I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. I’ve always had a love for children and being a mentor. Teachers deserve a lot of credit because they go above and beyond for their students to ensure they have the necessary tools for a bright future. I wanted to make a difference in teacher appreciation, especially in Oklahoma by encouraging and uplifting my students. Although I chose a different career path, I will always have a deep respect for teachers and those who go into that profession.
