Meet Mya Tsu!

This month we welcome Mya Tsu as our Fall 2022 Social Content and PR intern! She is currently a senior at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in public relations and minoring in entrepreneurship. Mya loves all aspects of public relations, from digital design to long-form writing to the fast-paced environment. She assists with creating social content, calendars, research, writing and ongoing client projects. Mya loves that public relations allows her to build long-lasting relationships with team members and clients as well as gives her opportunities to learn a little bit about everything.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

For me, music and concerts are a way to connect with yourself, your friends or 1,000 strangers in a crowded room. With cell phones, we’re essentially running around with speakers in our hands, and the global music library at our fingertips. I listen to all types of music, and you’ll hear it flowing from my phone, tv or headphones constantly. For years, my birthday and Christmas presents were concert tickets to see my favorite artists at the time. A huge motto of my life stems from my love of concerts —“I would rather have pictures and experiences than presents to soon be forgotten on desks and hidden in drawers.”

Favorite vacation destination?

I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many different places. Of all the places I’ve been, I would say Japan has been one of my favorites. In 2019, as my senior year of high school came to a close, my friends and I decided to visit Japan. We traveled to multiple cities, Kobe, Kyoto, and Tokyo to name a few, spread around the country. I was amazed by how the culture changed from place to place, even in a country as small as Japan. We ate ramen and tried new, delicious dishes, sang karaoke, drove go-karts through the city, and completely immersed ourselves in Japanese culture. I had both my friends and my family with me on this adventure which made it even more enjoyable and just pure fun!

What did you want to be when you were little?

I was never the kid who knew what they wanted to do from an early age. But when I began thinking about colleges, I wanted to go into the criminology or psychology fields. I was obsessed with shows like Criminal Minds and the way each character could decipher what the villains were thinking and what they would do next. However, after my AP Psychology class, I realized that the science field wasn’t for me, and I leaned into my other interest of writing. English classes, reading and writing had always come easy to me, and as I looked further, I found my passion for communications and public relations at OU’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part about being an Anglin PR intern is helping out around the office wherever I’m needed! This gives me the opportunity to work with a bunch of clients and gain all around experience in a bunch of different areas. From the first day, I loved the welcoming environment. As soon as I stepped into the office, I immediately felt valued as a new team member. I’ve already learned so much in my time here and I can’t wait to see what else Anglin PR has in store for me!
