5 Things I Learned in 5 Months at Anglin PR

With the fall semester wrapping up, it’s only natural to look back on everything that’s been accomplished. The past five months I’ve been interning at Anglin have been an incredible learning experience. I’ve had the chance to work on so many client accounts and projects, I thought I would share a few of the things I’ve been able to work on this semester.

Research Reports

My first research project was a report for a client focusing on bicyclist and pedestrian safety. I have since completed research projects for other clients. I learned the importance of highlighting the data relevant to the campaign and how to capitalize on the results.

Social Media Audits

One of the biggest projects I completed during my fall internship was a social media audit for our client Send A Ride. The audit consisted of an analysis of four platforms, a presentation, and a list of recommendations. Through this project and other social audits, I’ve learned my way around the back end of social platforms a lot better and have the knowledge to see what is working, and what isn’t and find changes to achieve clients’ goals.

Social Media Calendars

At Anglin, we do a lot of social media work for a variety of clients. I’ve been able to work on various social media calendars, from writing copy to finding community events and everything in between. Through this work, I’ve improved in copywriting for socials and learned how to schedule posts using Agorapulse in a timely manner.

Long-Form Writing

I’ve always thought one of my strengths is being a good writer. I’ve been able to use that strength in a number of different projects, including writing blogs, interviews and op-eds. I’ve been challenged this semester to write Op-EDs, something I’ve never done before. It allowed me to learn another voice in writing and focus on that.

Website Building

Anglin has always been so encouraging and open, allowing me to work on projects and learn skills that interest me. I expressed wanting to gain experience with website building, so I was assigned a project for Americorps. I was able to build out several pages for their new website. I got to learn the backend of Wix in greater detail and I really enjoyed using the client branding in fun and unique ways throughout the pages.

I’m excited about the opportunity to extend my internship into the Spring semester! The staff at Anglin are so welcoming and friendly, they made it so easy for me to make the decision to stay with Anglin another semester. I can’t wait to gain more knowledge in the coming months, continuing my work in these areas and more!
